Welcome to Powerhouse Therapy Camps
3rd Annual Constraint Induced Therapy Camp
July 9-27th, 2012
Camp Open Hands
A summer day camp for children with Hemiparesis
Camp Open Hands is based on the substantial research involving constraint-induced movement therapy (CIT) for children with cerebral palsy, stroke, or other neurological brain injury. Children with weakness or decreased range of motion due to brachial plexus, or orthopedic injuries/surgeries may also benefit. CI therapy is a therapeutic intervention designed to restrain the use of the unaffected upper extremity and encourage the use of the affected upper extremity through practice.
Camp Open Hands will focus on improving:
• fine and gross motor skills
• motor planning
• bilateral hand use
• core strength
• sensory awareness
• daily living skills such as feeding, dressing, and grooming
• Age appropriate play
